Why do MLB teams, and players, want ballparks to keep getting louder?

Why do MLB teams, and players, want ballparks to keep getting louder?

Because baseball isn't just competing with itself anymore. It's competing with every other form of entertainment for people's attention.

A louder ballpark isn't noise for its own sake. Video boards prompting cheers, PA systems building energy, stadiums designed to hold sound in, all of it in service of one thing: making the in-person experience feel like something you can't get at home.

MLB has clearly decided atmosphere is a product, not a byproduct.

If you're running a venue and you're not actively engineering that feeling, you're leaving experience on the table.
