The Blues' fan-requested Ozzy bobblehead: stop creating promotions in conference rooms—ask…

Back in 1984, Ozzy got arrested in St. Louis, and that mugshot became local legend. Fans asked for it as a giveaway. The Blues built the promotion around it.

Too often, promotions get created in a conference room. I love it when teams take the time to actually ask their fans what would get them excited.

The Blues didn't just ask the question. They listened. That combination of pop culture and fan feedback just created an epic promotional night.

Participation over observation. Give your audience a hand in the outcome, and they'll show up for it.

The weirder and more local the idea, the harder it is for anyone else to copy. And the more it's genuinely yours.
