Looking for a new role? Here’s my advice:
Yesterday, I joined my friends at Slate for a webinar on content repurposing—kudos to Christina Pearo and Nadia Rozental for leading a great discussion alongside Tameka Bazile and Eve Godat. Check out the recording when it’s available!
One question stood out from a marketer transitioning to specialize in social media. Here’s my advice, which applies to anyone seeking their next opportunity:
Your experiences are unique—don’t hide them.
The right role will appreciate what you bring to the table. If you compromise who you are, the next role won’t be the right fit.
Missed out on a role because of who you are?
That role wasn’t meant for you, and that’s a win.
If you’re reaching out about a role, be prepared. Have answers to basic questions, a polished resume, a standout portfolio—anything that showcases who you are and what you’ve accomplished.
Your next role is out there. Make sure it’s the right one for you.
Shoutout Joaquin Paolo Arellano for actually taking a screenshot of the webinar. 🙌
