"This is Wayne from ___": the logo changes, your name doesn't—reputation, relationships and…
One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned: The most important part of this sentence isn’t what comes after it. 𝗜𝘁’𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗯𝗲𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴.
Observation
I once had a heated exchange where my loyalty was questioned because I quit my job.
Early in my career, I made a decision to be loyal to people, not logos. This person didn’t understand that difference.
Years in media taught me a hard truth.
Companies cut fast.
Friends lose jobs.
Logos don’t remember your sacrifices — people do.
I watched who showed up for others when things got hard.
Those were the relationships that mattered to me.
Those were the people I chose to invest my loyalty in.
In sports, I was told early on: “We’re all hired to be fired.”
Rude awakening. Accurate lesson.
Once you accept that reality, you can actually do the work that matters.
That former colleague?
Still there. Still loyal to the logo.
Good for him.
I chose a different path.
