Not everyone wants you to succeed.
And I didn’t want to believe that—until I had to.
I learned this lesson the hard way years ago… and had to deliver it again to a client this week.
Here’s the reality:
Sometimes the people who’ve been somewhere the longest would rather push change-makers out than give change a real shot.
Not because they’re bad people—but because change is uncomfortable.
And uncomfortable is scary.
If you’re someone who’s trying to move things forward—someone hired to rethink, reshape, or rebuild—get ready.
You will be:
• Resisted
• Second-guessed
• Undermined
Not because you’re wrong, but because your presence shines a light on everything that’s been left untouched.
Change agents, stay strong.
You were brought in for a reason—don’t let fear disguised as “tradition” or “institutional knowledge” slow you down.
