Observation

A remote company must be intentional about culture: focus on individuals, then the team,…

Starting a fully remote business, you need to be intentional about creating a company culture that fosters true teamwork.

Starting a fully remote business, you need to be intentional about creating a company culture that fosters true teamwork.

Last week as we celebrated two years on our own, Katie Jackson and I hosted our whole team in Austin, TX for our first ever CUENTO (opens the CUENTO site in a new tab) house without a production attached. This week was about focus:

1. Focus on the individuals. Help each team member grow, so they don’t feel like they are going through the motions everyday.

2. Focus on the team. How can each member of the team become irreplaceable to the rest of the team?

3. Focus on our partners. Clearly defining each partner’s goal and discussing how our team can help them get there as efficiently as possible.

I purposely put our partners last in this agenda, because for us to best serve our partners we need to make sure we have our house in order. One of the biggest challenges in creating a company that integrates into other businesses is remembering that we are a separate business and we need to take care of ourselves sometimes too. Last week was that moment for us.

Oh and after all of that work, we had a BLAST! From karaoke to “chicken shit bingo” to mechanical bulls to sing-a-longs in a piano bar the team came together to celebrate an incredible 2022. This was truly one of the coolest things I have ever had the opportunity to create for a group of people I genuinely love working with.
