I had been wondering how Papa Johns knew enough about me to ask me to present at their sports summit. That night while at Papa's house (that's his pool) I learned how and it's a great tribute to a simple lesson.
My first season with the Dolphins I went to Dallas for the Super Bowl and the cab drivers were on strike. This forced everybody to make friends and share cabs. I ended up sharing a cab with an awesome woman who ended up being a VP for Papa Johns. We have seen each other through the years and have worked on the Dolphins partnership as well. It would have been easy to be in a bad mood 4 years ago in Dallas, but we both were so excited to be there and didn't mind sharing a cab at all. She told her staff to find me and ask me to represent the team side of engagement at this conference. Wow!!
Simple lesson is... Smile and be happy, You never know who you are about to meet.
