Observation

The longer you work on something, the harder it becomes to see it clearly.

The longer you work on something, the harder it becomes to see it clearly.

One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned from assessing businesses, brands, and fan experiences over the last seven years is that familiarity creates blind spots.

The routines that make us efficient can also keep us from seeing what’s right in front of us.

That’s why fresh eyes are so valuable.

And they don’t always have to come from an outside consultant.

Ask someone from another department to review your work.

Watch a customer experience your product without explaining anything.

Listen to the questions they ask.

The best insights often come from the people with the fewest assumptions.

The strongest leaders I’ve worked with don’t protect their work.

They invite others to challenge it because they know that’s how great ideas become even better.

Sometimes the biggest opportunity in your business isn’t creating something new.

It’s finally seeing what was there all along.
