FOX pushing back on NFL distribution: legacy media fights consumer change instead ofโ€ฆ

Watching FOX push back against the NFLโ€™s media distribution strategy brings me back to my radio daysโ€ฆ ๐—”๐—ป๐—ฑ ๐—ป๐—ผ๐˜ ๐—ถ๐—ป ๐—ฎ ๐—ด๐—ผ๐—ผ๐—ฑ ๐˜„๐—ฎ๐˜†.

Traditional media companies fighting against changes in consumer behavior instead of adapting to them is exactly the problem.

Relationships only work when they continue to be mutually beneficial.

Or said another wayโ€ฆ

What have you done for me lately?

And for innovative businesses, the better question is:

What are you going to be able to do for me in the ๐—ณ๐˜‚๐˜๐˜‚๐—ฟ๐—ฒ?

The best businesses adjust before the climate changes.

Like pulling out an umbrella before it rains because you saw the clouds coming.

People may question it in the momentโ€ฆ

But you made the move based on where you believe things are headed.

Thatโ€™s where FOX reminds me of radio.

Too much reliance on distribution advantages consumers no longer care about.

Consumers donโ€™t care how they get the content anymore.

They care about access, convenience, personality, and connection.

The businesses that win moving forward will be the ones that stop protecting old models and start building for future behavior.

Because โ€œweโ€™ve always done it this wayโ€ has become one of the most dangerous strategies in business.
